Improving attendance is a key priority as attendance across Portsmouth City is below national averages.
Attendance at the end of last academic year 2017-2018 was
this was above our target of 96%.
The classroom doors open at 8.40am. When your child is unwell/unable to come to School, it is crucial the following steps are taken for their absence: Send a text 07797 801419/call the School office 023 92 820548 before 8.30am to advise the attendance officer of the absence and the reasons for the absence.
From 1 September 2013 amendments to the 2006 regulations remove references to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The amendments make clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers should determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted. A “Leave of Absence Form” can be obtained from the school office & must be completed by the parent/carer.
“Parents do not have the right or entitlement to take a child out of School for the purpose of a family holiday during term time”.
When making DENTAL, DOCTORS, OPTICIANS appointments, please try to arrange them for outside School hours.
Please be aware that a medical appointment during the school day does not mean your child should miss the whole day of School. It will be expected that your child either returns to School following an appointment (unless there are exceptional circumstances) or comes in before the appointment. We ask Parents/Carers to provide evidence of the appointment which should be handed to attendance.
The school register is taken at 9am & 1pm for safeguarding.
We are lucky to have an Attendance Officer in school supporting parents with getting their children to school every day.
Miss Hampton is very happy to meet with families to provide help, support and guidance.
Miss Hampton is responsible for monitoring attendance and lateness for the school. You will receive written communication if your child’s attendance or lateness are of concern and you will be offered full support and guidance to help improve these.
